Germain Chauveau was born in Paris and studied between Paris, Helsinki and New York. He began his career as an independent art director, devoting himself more specifically to music and signing album covers for Virgin, EMI, Naïve and Universal. In parallel he is called to work for independent magazines like Clam or Twill. In 2008, he joined Vogue Paris as deputy art director under the direction of Carine Roitfeld, and when Emmanuelle Alt took over the title she appointed him creative director. He works with David Sims, Mario Sorrenti, Lachlan Bailey, Karim Sadli, Inez & Vinood, Jurgen Teller… He will remain there for seven years before becoming creative director at ELLE. He re-energizes the title – Gilles Bensimon, Peter Lindbergh, David Bailey, Jean-Paul Goude, Cédric Buchet … among others, work again for the weekly magazine. In March 2018, he decided to set up his own communication agency Bold and Tall. 
Since 2021 he developed his photography.
